Nightly Routine Calmfidence®

Increase your Calmfidence®

Is your cell phone or device stealing your Calmfidence® like a thief in the night? Do you look at your cell phone or device right before you go to sleep? Do you check your phone when you wake up in the middle of the night? Is it the first thing you focus on when you wake up before you even open the shades? Studies show that the blue light emitted by devices can really mess with your sleep patterns, prevent you from falling asleep, make you suffer from broken sleep and even put you at risk for depression and anxiety.

Studies show readers of tablet books vs traditional books took longer to fall asleep and were less rested the next day. The blue light found in electronic devices like cell phones and e-readers suppresses the secretion of melatonin which plays an important role in sleep and in the body. Researchers recommend avoiding using your devices 2-3 hours before you plan to sleep.  Many devices now have a setting that automatically changes the blue light to a warmer color light that reduces the disruption of your sleep rhythm.

But why not start a new & positive nightly habit that doesn’t involve any electronics?  These are sure to increase your Calmfidence® before getting some much needed shut eye:

  • Meditate (apps like Headspace or Calm are great for beginners)
  • Take a warm bubble bath
  • Write in a gratitude journal
  • Read a chapter in a book
  • Listen to calming music  (Check it out on Pandora, Spotify or even ask Alexa to play it!)
  • Have a cup of herbal tea
  • Write out your to-do list for the next day
  • Diffuse essential oils like lavender

I am sure that if you add these habits into your nightly routine, you will sleep better and wake up with a new sense of Calmfidence® – a sense of Calmfidence® staring at a screen will never give you!
