Crunchy Calmfidence®

Sunflower seeds aren’t just for the birds!

These tiny gifts from that bright and cheerful yellow flower have a long reputation for helping folks relax and keep calm.  Thanks to the soothing magnesium they contain, these crunchy seeds can help us calm our nerves, ease away stress, lower blood pressure and even help prevent migraines. This essential mineral helps our bodies function at their best.  Along with a nice dose of magnesium, sunflower seeds are packed with Vitamin E.  Because of Vitamin E’s powerful anti-inflammatory properties, sunflower seeds can help bring a youthful glow to our skin as an added bonus!  Now that’s some Calmfidence® – inside & out!

When most people think of sunflower seeds, they picture baseball players chewin’ on the shells to get to the good stuff, then spittin’ the shells out on the dugout floor.  There are several other ways to incorporate these beneficial seeds into our diet without baseball, spitting, or worrying about the shells.  They are widely available in our local supermarkets.  Go for the ones that are raw & de-shelled.

Since they can add a nice texture to our food, have fun garnishing them atop a fresh salad, oatmeal or yogurt.  You can even smear some sunflower butter (think peanut butter!) on a warm, toasty slice of bread, topped with some berries – YUM!  How about some roasted sunflower seeds? An easy and healthy snack that’s not only good for our Calmfidence®, but overall health!

So next time you head to the supermarket, think about how you can increase your Calmfidence® by adding certain good eats into your every day diet.  Head down the nut or natural food aisle, pick up some sun flower seeds, and snack your way to even more Calmfidence®.
