Body Language Power – Walk with Calmfidence®

Do the body language first  – build it and they will come!

My grandfather always told me to walk like you are on a mission, like you are on your way to do great things. I once worked with an emcee who told me that before he walked on to any stage he would pretend that he just came from some place amazing right before he walked out. The way we hold ourselves when we walk sends powerful energy out all around us and people can feel it for sure.

People will generally move out of the way of a person who looks like they are heading in their direction with determination. Don’t we all feel good, safe, and assured when we are around people who know where they are going? Here are some sure fire ways you can walk with purpose and exude Calmfidence® in your steps:

  • Walk with big steps like you have someplace to go.
  • A wide stride gives the impression you are getting the job done.
  • Walk with awareness of what’s going on all around you.
  • Walk into rooms like you are glad to be there and interested to see and meet all those who are there.
  • Your posture is the very first thing that people notice about your body. Walk and stand tall.

Your body can literally set the tone and foundation for your day, an event, an interview, or any interpersonal interaction. When you give your body Calmfidence® cues soon they’ll come true.

If you’re are not feeling your best, most powerful self, you can set the stage to change that by changing the way you use your body. You have the power to create biochemical reactions in your body that can give you more Calmfidence®.’

Before an interview, a speech, a tough conversation or negotiation, or anytime you have to stand up for yourself, literally stand up for yourself! Stand up straight, hold your head up, open up your body language, stand sturdy on your feet, avoid self touch, uncross your arms and legs, and let your body tell the story that you are ready for whatever comes your way. The first few times you do this you might feel vulnerable, awkward, or strange but the more you condition yourself to sit and stand in more powerful and open ways the sooner you will actually become more powerful and have more Calmfidence®.

Do the body language first  – build it and they will come!
